Nikia Lawson, MA, BSW, CD/BDT(DONA), is a Certified Birth Doula & Birth Doula Trainer with DONA International. In addition to assisting birthing families for over 25 years, Nikia also offers skills training to aspiring doulas and professionals in the perinatal care field. Nikia is a childbirth and lactation educator, placenta encapsulator, maternal health advocate and birth business coach. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work & holds a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology.
Her tailored one-on-one Business Coaching, online MasterClass and private MasterMind Facebook group cater to professional birth workers who aim to “Earn and Serve,” bridging the gap between private and community-based birth & postpartum support, both in business and through ministry.
Nikia serves her local community through her non-profit organization, The Natural Way Birthing Project. The NWBP offers childbirth and lactation education, social services programs in efforts to reduce maternal and infant mortality in Tarrant County and the surrounding , Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area.
She is an active member, leader and volunteer with DONA International. Nikia serves the membership as the current President of DONA and is a DONA Doula of Color Trainer Fellow. As an experienced childbirth educator, she’s taught classes to hundreds of expectant families for various community groups and in hospitals since 2007. She’s assisted in the delivery of several hundred babies and supported families as a Women’s Health Specialist for the City of Fort Worth. She is a State of Texas Approved Lactation Educator.
